SOCIETY 1<\/strong>\u00a0has revealed the first collaboration in the band\u2019s 20-year career in the single \u201cIt\u2019s Life,\u201d which sees the unlikely pairing of the industrial-fused metal band with hip hop legend\u00a0DMC<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Run-DMC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cCollaborating with\u00a0<\/em>DMC<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0was an absolute dream come true,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0says\u00a0SOCIETY 1<\/strong>\u00a0frontman Lord Zane.\u00a0\u201cBefore I knew about\u00a0<\/em>The Doors<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<\/em>Jimi Hendrix<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>Run-DMC<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0were my gods. I showed up to my very first guitar lesson with a copy of\u00a0\u2018Raising Hell\u2019 because my teacher asked me to bring in music with my favorite artist. I swear to you, I almost cried when I heard his iconic voice over my music for the first time. It was a religious experience.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n


DMC<\/strong>\u00a0likewise has praise for Zane\u2019s musical artistry.\u00a0\u201cLord Zane\u00a0creates music that is insane,\u201d<\/em>DMC<\/strong>\u00a0says.\u00a0\u201cPowerful, energetic, fun, and captivating. The beat and the guitars for the collaboration we did grabbed me in a headlock! The sound, arrangements and vibe are a force to be reckoned with. He has allowed me to continue to live my rock \u2018n\u2019 roll dream.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zane first connected with\u00a0DMC<\/strong>\u00a0when the late\u00a0Static-X<\/strong>\u00a0frontman Wayne Static introduced the two, believing Zane, who also heads the production company Lord Zane Production, would be a good fit for directing the music video for the\u00a0DMC<\/strong>\u00a0track \u201cNoise Revolution,\u201d which featured guest vocals from Static. Years later, after re-focusing on his music career, Zane wrote the music for\u00a0SOCIETY 1<\/strong>\u2019s first intended collaboration, keeping\u00a0DMC<\/strong>\u00a0specifically in mind. Zane handled guitar duties on \u201cIt\u2019s Life,\u201d and\u00a0DMC<\/strong>\u00a0himself contributed the song\u2019s lyrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has been in the public eye for the past 20 years, since forming the now legendary, defunct group with Joseph (Rev. Run) Simmons and the late, great Jason (Jam Master Jay) Mizell.\u00a0DMC<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Run-DMC<\/strong>\u00a0can be credited with helping to transform rap and hip hop into come of the most popular music in the world. As the first and greatest of hip hop\u2019s superstars,\u00a0Run-DMC<\/strong>\u00a0succeeded beyond anyone’s wildest dreams by embodying the endlessly creative subculture of young black New York for the world to experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
