JOE SATRIANI<\/strong> is ready to kick off the new decade with a new album release and world tour. Set for release this spring, Shapeshifting <\/em>marks the legendary guitarist\u2019s 18th<\/sup> studio album in his nearly 35-year career in music. More details on the new album to come shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As previously announced, \u201cThe Shapeshifting<\/strong> Tour<\/strong>\u201d opens on April 15, 2020 with a 42 date European leg beginning in Germany and winding up with a trio of mid-June shows in Spain with more dates to be announced soon. The set list for the live show will feature tracks from the new Shapeshifting <\/em>album in addition to many of his classic fan-favorites including \u201cSurfing<\/strong> With The Alien<\/strong>\u201d, \u201cAlways with Me, Always with You\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cFlying In A Blue Dream\u201d<\/strong>. The 2020 touring band features celebrated drummer Kenny Aronoff<\/strong> (John Fogerty), bassist Bryan Beller<\/strong> (Aristocrats) and keyboardist Rai Thistlethwayte<\/strong> (Thirsty Merc) joining SATRIANI<\/strong> on guitar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On January 15, 2020 SATRIANI<\/strong> will be inducted into the 2020 Metal Hall of Fame<\/strong> by his friend and former guitar student, Steve Vai<\/strong>. The ceremony, hosted by television and radio personality, Eddie Trunk<\/strong>, will take place during a non-profit charity Gala whose proceeds go to bringing free drum therapy services to special needs children at specific health facilities and community centers throughout the United States. Other 2020 Metal Hall of Fame<\/strong> inductees include Steve Vai<\/strong> Geoff Tate<\/strong>, Don Dokken<\/strong>, Graham Bonnet<\/strong> and Metal Church<\/strong> while previous Inductees include Judas Priest<\/strong>, Motorhead<\/strong>, Ronnie James Dio<\/strong>, Bill Ward<\/strong>, Mikkey Dee<\/strong>, Randy Rhoads<\/strong>, Scorpions<\/strong>, and Doro Pesch<\/strong>, among other hard rock and heavy metal icons. On January 16 JOE <\/strong>and Eddie Trunk<\/strong> will meet up again, this time at LA\u2019s famous Rainbow Bar & Grill on Sunset Blvd for Trunk\u2019s monthly LA Invasion show airing live on SiriusXM 106 Volume channel.  The show will air live from 7-9pm PT and replay Friday from 2-4pm ET and 10-midnight ET.  It will also be available on the SiriusXM app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other SATRIANI <\/strong>music related news, two sets of SATRIANI <\/strong>music have now been added to streaming platforms. Additional Creations and Bonus Tracks<\/em>,<\/strong> featuring alternate versions of four songs from his Engines of Creation<\/em> album along with 12 other various bonus tracks join a newly released deluxe edition of his classic 1987 album, Surfing With The Alien<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (Deluxe Edition)<\/em>,<\/strong> which arrived late last year featuring new artwork and a bonus disc, Stripped \u2013 the Backing Tracks<\/em>. <\/strong>The latter, launched as a limited run for Black Friday\u2019s Record Store Day in November, <\/strong>features the songs from the album with all guitar solos removed. The set also features new artwork with SATRIANI<\/strong>\u2019s guitar replacing the iconic Silver Surfer<\/em> on the cover. Said SATRIANI <\/strong>\u201cSeeing my chrome guitar bursting through a multicolor wormhole seems quite fitting. It\u2019s as if it always belonged there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 1987, SATRIANI\u2019s<\/strong>platinum, dual Grammy nominated album Surfing With The Alien<\/em>, has established him as a legend in the music world for over 30 years. SATRIANI<\/strong> explained his decision to make the stripped version, after years of reluctance for such a work, \u201cWhen I build a track from scratch it\u2019s a kind of musical alchemy, a mixture of voodoo, mojo, blood, sweat, tears, prayers\u2026 and a lot of hard work. I cherish them because of this… it\u2019s no wonder I\u2019ve been reluctant to release them (stripped).\u201d Now, he is truly excited about giving this new and exciting versions of his music to the fans, \u201cYou can play along with these tracks or just sit back and enjoy the mixes as they are.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For two decades,the guitar virtuoso has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star \u201cG3\u201d guitar extravaganza.  SATRIANI<\/strong>\u2019s studio and live recordings have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide to date and of his many solo albums, two have gone platinum<\/em> and four others went gold<\/em>, with 15 Grammy nominations between them.  His side project, Chickenfoot<\/strong>, featuring former Van Halen front man Sammy Hagar, former bassist Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Peppers\u2019 drummer Chad Smith saw their debut album certified gold and their second studio album debuted at #9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
