{"id":12331,"date":"2019-12-03T09:26:18","date_gmt":"2019-12-03T09:26:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/skylight.gr\/?p=12331"},"modified":"2019-12-03T09:26:21","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T09:26:21","slug":"luxembourgs-rome-unveils-two-new-releases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skylight.gr\/index.php\/2019\/12\/03\/luxembourgs-rome-unveils-two-new-releases\/","title":{"rendered":"Luxembourg\u2019s ROME Unveils Two New Releases"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neo Folk\nOutlet To Release The Dublin Sessions &amp; Hinter den Mauern der Stadt To Be\nRelease On December 6<sup>th<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Luxembourg\u2019s premiere neo\nfolk outfit ROME is set to release a pair of records on December 6<sup>th<\/sup>\nvia Trisol Music Group; The Dublin Sessions &amp; Hinter den Mauern der Stadt!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following on from the\nuniversal acclaim of their last record \u201cLe Ceneri Di Heliodoro\u201d, The Dublin\nSessions was born in May 2019 while mainman Jerome Reuter spent some quality\ntime among friends in Dublin and ended up recording a selection of several new\nand gripping folk compositions. During these stout-fuelled sessions, local talents\nwere quickly recruited to join in the fun and to give the tracks the necessary\nIrish grit with traditional instruments such as banjo, bouzouki and uilleann\npipes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tracks this motley\nband cut in Dublin\u2019s legendary Sonic Studio are all completely new and\nunreleased songs that combine elements of the traditional world of Irish folk\nmusic and its up-beat feel, with ROME\u2019s rather sombre contemporary songwriting\nand sentiment. The almost danceable \u201cAntenora\u201d and \u201cHoly Ennui\u201d stand out as\ncatchy sing-alongs, whereas songs like \u201cSlash \u2019n\u2019 Burn\u201d and \u201cVaterland\u201d\nshowcase ROME\u2019s unique brand of European proto-folk tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A special appearance on\nthe haunting ballad \u201cEvropa Irredenta\u201d is delivered by Sweden\u2019s Superstar\nTH\u00c5STR\u00d6M who has already collaborated with Reuter on the song \u201cStillwell\u201d of\nthe 2016 album \u201cThe Hyperion Machine\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, \u201cHinter den\nMauern der Stadt\u201d sees Reuter teaming with Eugen Balanskat, original vocalist\nfor East-Berlin punk band DIE SKEPTIKER (formed in 1986 in the GDR) for a reimagining\nof their single of the same name. DIE SKEPTIKER released their first official\nalbum \u201cSauerei\u201d in 1991, the young Jerome Reuter, who was a devoted listener of\nmany underground punk bands of the era, bought a copy in far-off Luxembourg.\nReuter was impressed by the Balanskat who had a remarkably unique delivery and\nunusually poetic lyrics to go with the punk arrangements of the band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DIE SKEPTIKER managed to\nincorporate the poetic Weltschmerz of classic German poetry (notably of authors\nlike Hesse and Heym) into their grippingly raw punk rock &#8211; a juxtaposition\nwhich certainly proved quite influential on Reuter\u2019s own musical universe years\nlater. The song \u201cHinter den Mauern der Stadt\u201d, dealing with the difficulties of\ncoming to grips with the clash of the two German cultures and societies after\nthe Fall of the Berlin Wall, particularly stood out on the SKEPTIKER\u2019s release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To celebrate this year\u2019s\n30th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, it is a distinct pleasure and\nhonour for Jerome to collaborate on giving this classic song a new coat of\npaint with the band\u2019s original singer Eugen Balanskat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both \u201cThe Dublin\nSessions\u201d and Hinter den Mauern der Stadt vinyl releases (Hinter den Mauern der\nStadt is a vinyl only release) come in sturdy cardboard sleeves, reverse board\nprinted cover and are hand-numbered and signed by J\u00e9r\u00f4me Reuter with only 500\ncopies available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ROME maintain their\nreputation as workhorses consistently releasing stunning work year in and year\nout.
