Rock\u2019n\u2019roll legends The Quireboys<\/strong> have released a brand-new video for their new single \u201cOriginal Black Eyed Son<\/strong>\u201d \u2013 which is the stunning lead track taken from their latest album, the critically acclaimed \u201cAmazing Disgrace<\/strong>\u201d. Released via Off Yer Rocka Recordings<\/strong>, the single portrays life as a singer in a rock\u2019n\u2019roll band \u2013 on the road in dodgy hotels and staying up until the sun rises just to do it all over again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very apt too as Spike<\/strong>, Guy,<\/strong> Paul<\/strong> and Keith<\/strong> are seemingly never off the road \u2013 embarking on a worldwide tour that takes in Australia, SE Asia, the USA, Canada, various European and UK dates including a sold-out 35th<\/sup> Anniversary<\/strong> date at London\u2019s Kentish Town Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The History of The Quireboys<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the band\u2019s inception in London, UK in 1984 \u2013 originally as The Choirboys, then The Queerboys, before settling on the less controversial name of The Quireboys \u2013 there followed 6 years of hard graft and personnel changes before the inevitable happened \u2013 a UK number 2 album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite supporting a certain Guns N\u2019 Roses at the legendary Hammersmith Odeon in London it was 1990\u2019s A Bit of What You Fancy that brought the band to the attention of the public at large, and featured founder member Spike on vocals and new recruit Guy Griffin on guitar. The record showcased no fewer than 5 hit singles \u2013 including \u201cHey You\u201d which peaked at number 5 in the US Billboard Rock Chart and number 14 in the UK Singles chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spike and Guy have been the backbone of THE quintessential British rock\u2019n\u2019roll band ever since \u2013 a journey that has seen them play to 72,000 at 1990\u2019s Monsters of Rock at Donington with the likes of Whitesnake, Aerosmith and Poison \u2013 supporting The Rolling Stones that same year, and joining Guns N\u2019 Roses again a couple of years later on their \u201cUse Your Illusion\u201d tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following their second studio album, 1993\u2019s Bitter Sweet & Twisted, the band found the new mainstream rock landscape a difficult one \u2013 and it wasn\u2019t until 2001 and the release of This is Rock\u2019n\u2019Roll that they found a new lease of life.
\nThe public\u2019s appetite for The Quireboys had returned and hasn\u2019t waned since \u2013 3 further studio releases (Well Oiled, Homewreckers & Heartbreakers, Halfpenny Dancer) were released on various labels from 2004 to 2009 before the band found their new \u2013 and permanent \u2013 home on Off Yer Rocka \u2013 the label of the renowned festival brand Hard Rock Hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first 4 albums on Off Yer Rocka \u2013 Beautiful Curse (2013), Black Eyed Sons (2014), St Cecilia and the Gypsy Soul (2015), and Twisted Love (2016) \u2013 have not only grown the legacy of The Quireboys but have brought new fans to the fold. 2017\u2019s White Trash Blues saw the band take a bold move \u2013 recording a collection of iconic blues numbers but with the signature Quireboys approach \u2013 a move that paid off with glowing reviews. Covering legends such as Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Freddie King and John Lee Hooker the album is a triumph of substance over style. The album produced a stunning single release \u2013 \u201cLeaving Trunk\u201d \u2013 a track written by Sleepy John Estes and made famous by the legendary Taj Mahal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Quireboys are certainly enjoying a revival \u2013 selling out venues around the world \u2013 with 2018 also taking in The Monsters of Rock Cruise, HRH AOR VI, Sweden Rock and Stonedeaf festivals. 2019 has seen a brand-new studio album \u2013 their 12th called Amazing Disgrace which is available on CD, Vinyl and Digital release\u2026 so be a part of the never ending Quireboys party \u2013 as there\u2019s no sign of Spike, Guy, Keith and Paul slowing down any time soon!
