Indie music heroine Kristin Hersh<\/a> <\/strong>hasannounced over a dozen new tour dates, which including shows in the U.S. Midwest and West Coast, as well as one in the U.K. She will be pllaying as a hard-hitting electric trio, along with Fred Abong<\/strong><\/a> (Throwing Muses) <\/strong>and Rob Ahlers (50FOOTWAVE)<\/strong>, both of whom have played an important role in her two respective bands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hersh will be touring in support of her latest highly acclaimed album ‘Possible Dust Clouds’<\/strong><\/a>, released via Fire Records<\/strong><\/a>, as well as the reissue of her eighth solo album‘Crooked’<\/a><\/strong> via Fire Records<\/strong>, which is out September 27. \u2018Crooked\u2019<\/strong><\/a>, which was put out on orange vinyl for Record Store Day 2019, will now be released on black vinyl and CD. Concert-goers for this tour will also hear other material from Hersh’s lengthy career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kristin Hersh is most recognized as frontperson for the influential art-punk band Throwing Muses<\/strong><\/a>and power trio 50FOOTWAVE<\/strong><\/a>. Throwing Muses gained traction in the early \u201880s, playing with bands like The Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. Kristin’s solo career spun off in 1994 with the widely acclaimed \u2018Hips and Makers\u2019, featuring ‘Your Ghost’<\/strong><\/a>, a duet with R.E.M.\u2019s Michael Stipe<\/strong>. Kristin has since released a steady stream of distinct solo albums with 2010\u2019s \u2018Crooked\u2019<\/strong><\/a> the first release in the inventive book\/CD format she is now known for.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to a series of frighteningly intense mini-albums via 50FOOTWAVE, Kristin\u2019s writing career has also flourished with the highly acclaimed \u2018Rat Girl\u2019<\/strong><\/a> (titled \u2018Paradoxical Undressing\u2019 <\/strong>in the UK) and the award winning ‘Don\u2019t Suck, Don\u2019t Die’<\/strong><\/a>, a personal account of her long friendship with the late Vic Chesnutt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hersh is also pleased to announce that Throwing Muses<\/strong><\/a> will be performing at the Pasadena Daydream Festival<\/strong><\/a> on August 31, curated by Robert Smith, along with The Cure, Pixies, Deftones, Mogwai, The Joy Formidable, Twilight Sad, Chelsea Wolfe, Kaelan Mikla and Emma Ruth Rundle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kristin Hersh\u2019s astounding career has crowned her queen of the alternative release. Her tenth studio album \u2018Possible Dust Clouds\u2019<\/strong> is a highly personalized sociopathic gem delivered as a futuristic rewriting of how music works \u2013 a melodious breeze with a tail wind of venomous din.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A turbulent cracker with riot grrl swagger, this album is Hersh’s first new material since 2016, when she released her critically-acclaimed double album-book combo ‘Wyatt at the Coyote Palace’<\/strong><\/a>. <\/strong>In contrast to that LP, which saw Hersh record over several years, playing all the instruments on these songs over many years, this album involves numerous friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enveloping the juxtaposition of the concept \u2018dark sunshine\u2019, she created this brooding solo, expanding her off-kilter sonic vision. Produced by Hersh herself, this album was mixed and mastered by Steve Rizzo<\/strong> with contributions by Fred Abong <\/strong>on bass, Chris Brady (Pond)<\/strong> on vocals and bass, and drums by Throwing Muses\u2019<\/strong>David Narcizo, Rob Ahlers <\/strong>and Kristin’s son, Wyatt True<\/strong>. The result is a squally and heady mix of discordant beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When I heard the record back after leaving the atmosphere of the studio, it was like stepping back from a painting. It just sounded like this chaotic party. You want the chaos, you want the violence, the sweetness lends itself to a fun explosion. And that\u2019s what \u201cPossible Dust Clouds\u201d sounds like,” says Kristin Hersh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feedback and phasing gyrate from simply strummed normality. Imagine Dinosaur Jr and My Bloody Valentine cranking up a Dylan couplet. \u2018Possible Dust Clouds\u2019 is a glorious return to form for one of alternative rock\u2019s true innovators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Touring allows listeners the chance to experience what the BBC calls Hersh’s “dark and dizzy world”. For this tour,\u2028 Fred Abong<\/a> <\/strong>also opens each show with an acoustic set in support of his recently-released \u2018Pulsing\u2019 <\/strong>EP<\/strong><\/a>, alternately described as \u201cragged Replacements\u201d and \u201cElliott Smith with balls\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
