Auburn has been captivating audiences around the world with their unique blend of Americana, blues and roots music. Fronted by female vocalist Liz Lenten, who’s voice has been described as \u201cso sweet it’ll make your hair curl\u201d and \u201chusky, with an emotional frailty,\u201d who \u201cisn’t afraid to show her full range of vocal tones or emotions.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With varied influences from Bonnie Raitt, Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse to Kate Bush, Liz’s songs\u00a0grab you melodically and tell stories of life’s ups and downs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has toured extensively including supporting artists Sophie Ellis Bextor, Jefferson Starship, Live\u00a0Dead 69, Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick and many more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liz, a very UN-typical English rose, (she describes herself as \u201ca mongrel \u2013 descending from several\u00a0places in Eastern Europe\u201d) now lives in the Wolds of Lincolnshire, where she spends her time writing,\u00a0performing and running music groups for young people living in rural isolation and other challenging circumstances, as well as managing other artists including Eliza Carthy and Shane MacGowan. She was nominated for an \u201cEnglish Heritage Inspiration Award in 2012,\u201d for her work bringing singing\u00a0and music to the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new album was mainly written in the last few months of 2018, in a flurry of outpouring! As always with Liz Lenten’s prolific song writing themes cover the usual range of reflections of emotions and situations \u2013 focusing this album on Trust, in all sorts of relationships and situations.
Says Liz, \u201cIts been a couple of crazy years for me, with huge personal life changes \u2013 which lead to me losing my voice completely at one point, all of which left me struggling to trust my own judgement and learning to live on faith and hope \u2013 which is essentially all we have to go on when things get out of control.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As with Auburn’s previous releases, the band’s new album was recorded once again in Nashville. Says Liz, \u201cNashville is one of the most wonderful cities on earth to me \u2013 buzzing with music and creativity. My fantastic multi-award-winning producer, Thomm Jutz, (Nanci Griffith, Mary Gauthier, Bill Anderson, Otis Gibbs, Mac Wiseman,), totally brings my ideas to life, is there, so I would go wherever he was! And the musicians are amazing \u2013 all so incredibly talented and sensitive \u2013 and just lovely people to be around.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
