With almost the same line-up as on the very first recordings, Jim Shepherd, Martin Keena, Walter \u2018Wattie\u2019 Duncan, Tom Reid <\/strong>and former Television Personalities <\/strong>keyboardist Dave Musker <\/strong>recorded this new material together with producer legend Pat Collier<\/strong> at his Perry Vale Studios<\/strong><\/a> in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presented as a double A-side 7\u201c single, ‘Step by Step’<\/strong><\/a> and ‘Gravity’<\/strong> shine as brightly as they did in the band’s heyday some 30 years ago. The first track is an upbeat and uptempo jingle-jangle harmony with a 60s chorus (written by Tom Reid) while ‘Gravity’ <\/strong>comes as a more fuzzy anthem reminiscent of ‘Cut Me Deep’<\/strong>. Here we see fantastic songwriting courtesy of Wattie Duncan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jasmine Minks have been strongholds in the British music scene since forming in 1983 in Aberdeen. In fact they were the first band to be signed to Alan McGee<\/strong>\u2019s fledging Creation Records <\/strong>label back in 1984. Many classic songs, singles and albums followed. ‘Think!’<\/strong><\/a> or ‘Cold Heart’<\/strong><\/a> are among the best songs released during Creation\u2019s early phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fans of the band include  Manic Street Preachers<\/strong> (the Manics actually got their name from the Jasmines\u2019 debut album ‘1234567 All Good Preachers Go To Heaven’<\/strong>), as well as the legendary John Peel.<\/strong> The original line-up reformed in 2011 for gigs and a new song, which was also included on the Cherry Red career-spanning 2-disc compilation ‘Cut Me Deep: The Anthology 1984-2014’<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was a moment of utter bliss when singer-guitarist Jim Shepherd confirmed that the single would be happening,” says Ulrich Hoffmann<\/strong>, owner of A Turntable Friend Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of March 22, this two-track single can be found everywhere digitally via A Turntable Friend Records with distribution worldwide by SRD Southern Record Distributors<\/strong><\/a> (London, UK). The limited edition 7\u201d is available on blue vinyl in a cardboard sleeve (with download code) via Bandcamp<\/strong><\/a> and Limited Run<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this new release under their belt, The Jasmine Minks will be the special guest of The Claim<\/strong> for the release day show at London’s 100 Club<\/a> the next day (March 23). DJ Vic Templar will also be performing that night. On April 20, they will also hold their own headline show at The Islington in London <\/a>with support from Freya Beer. Tickets are now available for pre-order for both the 100 Club<\/a> and The Islington<\/a> shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
