The Los Angeles garage rockers the Sloths<\/a> unveil the video for \u201cHaunted,\u201d a track which appears on the soundtrack for the independent horror film The Amityville Murders<\/em>. The film is released theatrically and on demand Friday, February 8.

Directed by Daniel Farrands and distributed by Skyline Entertainment<\/a>, The Amityville Murders<\/em> retraces the events of November 13, 1974, the night on which Ronald DeFeo, Jr. took a high-powered rifle and murdered his entire family as they slept. At his trial, DeFeo claimed that \u201cvoices\u201d in the house commanded him to kill.

In addition to \u201cHaunted,\u201d the film\u2019s soundtrack features an additional track, \u201cLust,\u201d written by the Sloths\u2019 Tom McLoughlin (who goes by “Tommy” for all Sloths activity) and Michael Rummans. Both songs appear on the Sloths’ debut album Back from the Grave<\/em> (2015) released by Lolipop \/ Burger Records.

Coinciding with the video release, the Sloths have announced two appearances March 19 at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX. The band will perform an afternoon set at the annual Burger Records showcase at Hotel Vegas<\/a> and an evening showcase at Spider House Caf\u00e9 & Ballroom<\/a>.

Sloths\u2019 frontman Tom McLoughlin is a filmmaker himself, having directed more than 40 feature film and television projects, including Friday the 13th<\/sup> Pt. VI: Jason Lives<\/em> (1986) and the Golden Globe-nominated miniseries In a Child\u2019s Name<\/em> (1991).

\u201cIt\u2019s been a great experience to collaborate on the \u2018Haunted\u2019 video with Dan Farrands,\u201d says McLoughlin. \u201cThe video features footage from the movie intercut with newly-filmed scenes of the band. I see The Amityville Murders<\/em> as a dark, Poe-like gothic vision of possession based on the true 1970s crime story.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
